Learn About Supplements

Comprehensive guides to help you become an informed supplement user

📖

What Is a Supplement?

A dietary supplement is a product intended to add nutritional value to your diet. Supplements can contain vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, enzymes, probiotics, or other substances. They come in many forms — pills, capsules, tablets, powders, liquids, and gummies — and are designed to supplement (not replace) a balanced diet. While they are not medicines, quality supplements backed by scientific research can play a meaningful role in supporting overall health, filling nutritional gaps, and optimizing specific body functions.

In the U.S., supplements are regulated by the FDA under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement.
